TBRS was formed in May 2018 with the aim to actively oppose any development proposals that would harm the outstanding natural landscape and features of Tucker Beach Reserve and the surrounds.

In doing so ensuring that the rural aspect and natural features are retained for both residents and the users of the Tucker Beach Reserve.

ABOUT

An active committee ,under Chairman Will Hodgson, has already initiated a legal position on our opposition to the proposed  Middleton Family Trust ( MFT)  development of 200 plus houses( along with 9 rural lifestyle properties) to be accessed  off Tucker Beach Rd ( Stage 2 )  along with the MFT proposal lodged in 2015 for a 750 lot subdivision( by our calculations) under Lake Johnson and accessed off a new road off Hawthorne Drive roundabout ( Stage1).

Both proposals seek to change rural zoning ( including some in the Outstanding Natural Landscape ) to Residential and Rural Lifestyle.

Council have rejected both Stage 1 and stage 2 submissions. MFT have appealed both decisions to the Environment Court. It has been decided that both appeals will be heard simultaneously and this will possibly occur late 2020. Prior to that there will most likely be a Mediation. TBRS is a S274 interested party on both submissions.

TBRS attempted to make a submission to the QLDC Commissioners on the stage 2 proposal but this was denied due to a timing issue. Our submission is on this website labelled  Statement of Evidence

We have retained Todd & Walker Law as our legal representatives and McClean and Co to administer the membership and finances of the Society. We have also retained a number of expert consultants and a specialist Barrister should this prove necessary.

On our website we will seek to keep Residents, and others interested in protecting the unique Tucker Beach environment, fully informed on proceedings.

Membership to the Society is free but obviously, we welcome donations.

A membership form is on the website and can be viewed here. Any enquiries should be directed to Will Hodgson on 021 024 91685 or by email to info@tbresidents.co.nz. The more members we have the larger our voice and ability to oppose will be so we urge everyone interested to join the fight!!

Regards

Will Hodgson
Chairman
