An active committee, under Chairman Will Hodgson has already initiated legal opposition to the proposed development of 200 plus houses ( along with 15 rural lifestyle properties) promulgated by the Middleton Family. Their proposal seeks to get approval to change the current rural zoning of the lower acreage of their farm to a combination of urban residential and rural lifestyle.
This proposal was first applied for in 2015 with an access road from the Frankton side of Hansen Rd and they currently have another application seeking access from TBR.
QLDC planners have opposed both proposals.
TBRSI attempted to make a submission to the QLDC Commissioners and prepared an extensive brief of evidence See link but unfortunately, this was denied due to a timing issue.
MF have now applied to have TBRSI excluded from presenting submissions on both proposals and we are currently appealing both of those to try and ensure Residents have a voice. QLDC are supporting our appeal.
We have retained Todd Walker as our legal representatives and MCClean and Co to administer the membership and finances of the Society. We have also retained a number of expert consultants and a specialist Barrister should this prove necessary.
On our website we will seek to keep Residents, and others interested in protecting the unique TB environment, fully informed on proceedings.
Membership of the Society is free but obviously, we welcome donations- at this stage we are reasonably funded but more donations will be very welcome.
A membership form is on the website and can be viewed here. Any enquiries should be directed to Will Hodgson on021 0249 1685 or by email to info@tbresidents.co.nz. The more members we have the larger our voice and ability to oppose will be so we urge everyone interested to join the fight!!
Regards
Will Hodgson
Chairman.
